The PCCF (EWPRT & CC) heads the Evaluation, Working Plan, Research
and Training wings of the Department. The PCCF (EWPRT & CC) is assisted by
APCCF (Working Plan), APCCF (Research) and APCCF (HRD).
The Working Plan wing of the Department under the administrative control of
APCCF (Working Plan), carries out the very important task of writing of Working
Plans of Forest Divisions with 10 year periodicity with the objective of sustainable
management of forests. It is also responsible for carrying out survey and demarcation
of Reserve Forests, Protected Forests, Areas notified under section 4 of Karnataka
Forests Act, 1963 and areas identified for notification under section 4 of KFA, 1963
and processes the notification of forest areas.
The Research and utilization wing work under the administrative control of
the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Research and Utilization) who
reports to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (EWPRT & CC), Bengaluru.
The Forest Research involves various subjects like exotic species trials, nursery
techniques, ion of Plus Trees, establishment of Clonal Seed Orchards,
Seedlings Seed Orchards, creation of clonal/germ plasm banks, provenance trials,
progeny trials, field trial of tissue culture plantlets, identification of seed stands, seed
technology, cultivation of medicinal plants, agro-forestry research and publicity &
The training wing of the Department administered by APCCF (HRD)
undertakes training of Forest officers recruited as Range Forest Officers (RFOs),
Deputy Range Forest Officers cum surveyors (Dy. RFO), Forest Guards and
Forest Watchers apart from in service training of officers of various cadres.
There are 7 forest training Institutes in Karnataka.
The Evaluation wing of the Department headed by APCCF(Evaluation)
undertakes evaluation of various schemes and projects implemented by the
Department and suggests improvements for ensuring better success.
