ABOUT WING
The Vigilance Wing is headed by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Vigilance) and is assisted at the headquarters by a Conservator of Forests (Vigilance). The wing is assisted by eleven Deputy Conservators of Forests, Forest Mobile Squad (FMS) across the State.The staff of FMS assist the APCCF (Vigilance) in carrying out vigilance-related works entrusted to them. They undertake day-and-night patrolling in their respective jurisdiction. They also assist the territorial and wildlife staff in detection and prevention of timber smuggling and poaching.
The vigilance works undertaken by the wing include enquiring into various petitions received by the department and verifying the authenticity of the same. In case the allegations against the staff are found to be true, action against the erring officials is recommended to the competent higher authorities.
The Vigilance wing is responsible for supply of wireless equipment to the field staff for effective communication in hostile terrain. It is also responsible for providing arms and ammunition to various field units of the KFD as a preventive measure and as a safeguard against wild animals.
