Yadgir forest division is situated in the north-eastern sector of Karnataka. The limits of the division are the same as those of Yadgir district. The total extent of recorded forest lands in the division ia about 48,009.40 hectares which constitute about 9.11 of the geographical area of the division (5,270 Km²). Yadgir division has one sub-division, namely, Yadgir sub-division, and consists of two ranges, namely, Yadgir and Shorapur ranges. Forests of Yadgir division are primarily dry deciduous scrub and thorn forests. Patches of dry deciduous scrub forest are found in Horancha, Yergola, Ashnal and Minaspur blocks of Yadgir range. Thorn forests are found in Talwargera and Thungadabail blocks of Shorapur range and Keshwar and Itkal blocks of Yadgir range.
