Ramanagara division is located in the south eastern sector of Karnataka. The division has about 414.54 Km² of forest area. Ramanagara division is divided into two sub-divisions, namely, Ramanagara and Kanakapura, and consists of five ranges, namely, Ramanagara, Channapatna, Magadi, Kanakapura and Sathanur. Ramanagara division consists of dry deciduous and scrub types of forests with species such as Sandalwood, Gulganji, Banni, Gobli, Karijali, Thapala, Kaggali, Katchu, Kasudeege, Muluvara Biijiali, Seege, Naigobbali, Aduusoge, etc. Leopard Cat, Elephant, spotted deer, Sambar, Bonnet Macaque, Slender Loris, Jungle Cat, Common Mongoose, Stripe-necked Mongoose, Striped Hyena, Jackal, Wild Dog, Sloth Bear, Vulture, etc. are found. Several kinds of reptiles are also found, Cobras being very common. The district has a Wildlife Sanctuary, namely, Ramadevara Betta Vulture Sanctuary, in Ramanagara range.
