Mangalore circle comprises two territorial divisions, namely, Mangalore and Kundapur forest divisions, and the Kudremukh wildlife division. In addition, there are two social forestry divisions, namely, Mangalore SF division and Udupi SF division. Mangalore circle comprises the revenue districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, and parts of Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga districts. Kudremukh wildlife division spreads over all the four districts mentioned above. The landscape of Mangalore circle consists of both the below-Ghat and above-Ghat regions of the Western Ghats. A large number of rivers along with their numerous tributaries drain through the tract these include Thunga, Bhadra, Nethravathi, Gurupura, Seethanadhi, Chakra, Sowparnika, Swarna, Varahi, Kumaradhara, Payaswini, Havanje, Shambhavi, Ennehole, etc.
