ABOUT Division

Bidar forest division is situated in the northern tip of Karnataka. The limits of the division are the same as those of Bidar district. The total extent of recorded forest lands in the division is about 45,616 hectares which constitute about 8.37 of the geographical area of the division (5,448 Km²). Bidar division has two sub-divisions, namely, Bidar and Basavakalyan sub-divisions, and consists of five ranges, namely, Bidar, Bhalki, Aurad, Humnabad and Basavakalyan ranges. Forests of Bidar division are primarily of scrub type with scattered distribution of dry mixed deciduous forests in localities favoured with better soil profile and moisture regime. Fairly good patches of dry mixed deciduous forest are found in parts of Bidar, Humnabad and Basavakalyan ranges. A few patches of teak-bearing dry deciduous forest are also found in Changler, Karpakapalli and Karaknalli areas
