Chikkamagaluru Circle comprises Bhadra Tiger Reserve, two territorial divisions, namely, Chikkamagaluru and Koppa Forest Divisions and One Social Forestry Division located entirely in Chikkamagaluru District. Major portion of Bhadra Tiger Reserve is also in Chikkamagaluru District, with a small portion falling in the adjoining Shivamogga District. The total geographical area of the circle is 7,222.75 Km² (Including Kudremukh and Bhadravathi Forest Division). The circle is situated at altitude between 600 and 1923 m from sea level. Mullayanagiri Hill range which has the highest peak in Karnataka State is located in Chikkamagaluru Circle. Various types of forest including evergreen, shola, semi-evergreen, moist deciduous, dry deciduous, thorn forest, etc. are found in the circle. Wildlife found in the circle includes Tiger, Elephant, Leopard, Bison, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Mouse Deer, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Python, King Cobra, Cobra. etc.
