The Forest Conservation (FC) wing primarily performs regulatory functions. As such, it does not implement any state sector or centrally sponsored scheme. Its main function is to process applications received for diversion of forest land for non-forest purposes, and to submit these proposals, if considered suitable for recommendation, through the State Government for approval of the Government of India. It is also responsible for monitoring implementation of the diversion projects by the user agencies as per the conditions stipulated at the time of sanctioning the projects.
