Raichur forest division is situated in the north-eastern part of Karnataka. The limits of the division are the same as those of Raichur district. The total extent of recorded forest lands in the division is about 32,747 hectares which constitute about 3.90 of the geographical area of the division (8,386 Km²). Raichur division has one sub-division, namely, Raichur sub-division, and consists of four ranges, namely, Raichur, Lingasugur, Deodurga and Manvi ranges. Forests of Raichur division are primarily of scrub type with patches of dry mixed deciduous forest scattered in relatively favourable localities. A few patches of fairly good mixed dry deciduous forest are found in Bunkaldoddi, Jalahalli, Kavital, Kumarkhed, Deodurga, etc.
